Hi Everyone,

Can someone please inform me of how to access the automation computer remotely. Access would help me save time and it is better for the environment as I will not have to drive 20-25 miles round trip every time I need to access automation. Thank You!

Robin

I was trained on how to use remote access by the Great and Powerful Tony Shannon. That is currently how I load shows into automation for Saturday mornings.

There was a good discussion in the past and it was decided that only folks who take on a significant chunk of the weekly automation duties should have remote access capability. I would like to hear from the other automation folks if that is still the policy. I do see a need to limit the access so that only folks who have a specific need and are willing to pitch-in with some responsibilities will get the big reward of remote access. I also see a legitimate need to keep the number of folks limited so that there is less opportunity for things to get screwed up. Not that I am implying anything concerning the present request.

Let's have a discussion and come up with a simple policy, or reaffirm the existing one. Someone was designated as the Automation Guru, was it Doug the Overlord? I will bow to the leader, but I can also to train others if we decide to do so. Policy first, please.

Glen

Glen is right.  We need to clarify the policy. Or create a different setup.  I could envision an different route that would allow programmers to log onto the production computer and load a new file into their show folder.  I say this without understanding how technically challenging this would be.  -Bobg
