Are you worried about your water meter in near future? Do you think of
over watering your lawn and upcoming water bill? This month's talk is
on Water metering in Fresno and water wise landscape. Please join us
at the Landmark Restaurant on December 5th at 7 pm (6:30 if you would
like to eat dinner) to hear and join in a discussion forum about
current and ongoing research on water issues and changing lawns to
more water wise landscape in Fresno. We will have community members
participating in the discussion who have already changed their

Metering of water in a desert city: Green lawns to water wise
landscape in Fresno
Kaberi Kar Gupta, Fresno Audubon Society
Fresno is one of the two cities in California that yet to have
residential water meters. Of the total residential water use 70% is
used for irrigating lawns. Fresno Audubon Community Water Wise
Landscaping Program is a collaborative, volunteer-driven, residential
landscape transformation process. Goal of this project is to build a
dynamic and active coalition of local government, housing developers,
homeowners, community organizations, educational institutions, and
environmental groups helping to create a more sustainable environment.
Through this program, we will help homeowners install water conserving
native plants in their yards, providing enhanced biodiversity and new
habitat for birds. This project is funded by National Audubon Society
and Toyota through Together Green Project.
