Tuesday July 26, 7:30pm VIDAM @Northampton Ctr for the Arts (air conditioned) – Maggie Shollenberger has been investigating the practices of contact improvisation and Authentic Movement for more than 20 years, and playing the piano since childhood.  She is mostly known as the piano teacher to the children of the wider Earthdance/contact community, and studies jazz piano with Eugene Uman at the VT Jazz Center.

 My favorite moments in dance jams (with or without music) have always been when the entire room is dancing with itself -- when our collective awareness has expanded to include everything that is happening -- when we are in that amazing energized state and we are "being moved" together, even if we are dancing solo or in a contact partner dance."

VIDAM stands for Valley Improvisational Dance And Music. Our aim is to create an open space where improvisational movement and music come together. Each VIDAM event invites at least one veteran improvisational musician to feed the space with inspiration for movement, for expression, for surprise and delight.

***This event is open to all who would like a focused creative space to move in collaboration with others and with improvised sound.
