பாஞ்சால நாட்டின்  வாசுதேவக் கண்ணனின்  நாணயங்கள்

ஆப்கானிஸ்தானில் கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்ட வாசுதேவ கிருஷ்ணர் நாணயம் (கி.மு. 2-ஆம் நூற்றாண்டின் தொடக்கம்), மல்ஹார் வாசுதேவர் சிலை (கி.மு. 200), மற்றும் வாசுதேவரின் வலது கையில் சங்கு ஏந்தியிருப்பதற்கான காரணங்கள் (திருவல்லிக்கேணி பார்த்தசாரதி, கர்நாடகாவின் கேசவர் கோவில்கள்), பிரிட்டிஷ் அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் உள்ள தமிழ்நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த வாசுதேவப் பெருமாள் ஓவியம் (சுமார் 1830), சங்கு முழங்கும் கஜேந்திர வரதராக வாசுதேவர், கெமர் (கம்போடியா) வெண்கலச் சங்குச் சிலைகள் மற்றும் வாசுதேவ கிருஷ்ணர் குறித்த ஆழ்வார் பாசுரங்கள் ஆகியவற்றின் அடிப்படையில், பாஞ்சால நாட்டு நாணயங்களில் வலது கையில் 'V' வடிவச் சங்குடன் காணப்படும் இரு கரங்களைக் கொண்ட தெய்வம் வாசுதேவ கிருஷ்ணரின் உருவமே என்று நான் முன்வைக்கிறேன். கஜேந்திர மோட்சம் போன்ற நிகழ்வுகளிலோ அல்லது இதிகாசத்தின் கௌரவர்களுக்கு எதிரான போரின் தொடக்கத்திலோ, பாஞ்சாலியைக் காக்க வாசுதேவ கிருஷ்ணர் விரைந்து வந்ததால், பாஞ்சால மன்னர்கள் தங்கள் நாணயங்களில் வாசுதேவ கிருஷ்ணரின் உருவத்தைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தனர்.

தெலுங்குக் கவிகள் இதிகாசத்தில் உள்ள கதைகளைக் கொண்டு விடுதலைப் போர் பற்றிக் காவியங்கள் இயற்றத் தொடங்கினர். பாஞ்சாலி சபதம் பற்றிப் பாரதி பாடினார். இடுக்கன் வருங்கால், அடியார்களுக்கு உதவ, வாசுதேவன் பாஞ்சஜன்யம் என்னும் சங்கநாதம் செய்து வருவான் என்னும் பக்திமரபு 2200 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் பாஞ்சால தேசத்து அரசர்களுக்கு இருந்தமையை அவர்கள் அச்சிட்ட காசுகளால் தெரியலாகிறது. இதுபற்றி விளக்கியுள்ளேன். நெடிய சிற்ப, ஓவியச் சான்றாதாரங்களும் தந்துள்ளேன்.

5000+ ஆண்டுகளாய் சங்கு இந்தியர் வாழ்வில் பெரும்பங்கு வகிக்கிறது. சிந்து சமவெளி அகழாய்வுகளில் சிறந்த விஸ்கான்சின் பல்கலைப் பேரா. ஜானதன் மார்க் கெனோயரின் முனைவர் பட்ட ஆய்வே சங்கு, சங்குவளையல் பற்றியது தான். சங்க நூல்களில் சங்கு பெரும்பங்கு உண்டு. கீரன் என்பதே சங்கு அறுக்கும் தொழிலால் என எண்ணுகிறேன். இடைக்கால வெண்பா: சங்கறுப்பது எங்கள் குலம், சங்கரனாருக்கு ஏது குலம் ... போன்றவை ஓர்க. வாழ்வில் எல்லா நிகழ்வுகளிலும் சங்கு வகிக்கும் பங்கு பற்றிய பட்டினத்தார் வெண்பா அழகானது. வாழ்க்கை நிலையாமை பற்றியது, கண்ணதாசன் பல விழாக்களில் பாடிக் காட்டுவதுண்டு.  https://youtu.be/mmtwKXQAYf0

In this thread: Based on the Vasudeva Krishna coin (early 2nd century BCE) from Afghanistan, Malhar Vasudeva icon (200 BCE), and the reasons for showing Conch (sankha) shell in the right hand of Vasudeva (Triplicane Parthasarathy, Kesava temples in Karnataka), Vasudeva Perumal painting (c. 1830) from Tamil Nadu in British Museum, Gajendra Varada as Vasudeva blowing the conch, Khmer (Cambodia) conch bronzes and Alvar poems on Vasudeva Krishna, I submit that the Panchala kingdom coins with a two-armed deity having a V-shaped conch in the right hand is Vasudeva Krishna representation. As in the Gajendra moksham etc., or the start of War against Kauravas in the epic episodes, Vasudeva Krishna rushed to save Panchali and so, Panchala kings chose Vasudeva Krishna representation in their coins.

திருமங்கையாழ்வார் பெரிய திருமொழி

கொழுந்து அலரும் மலர்ச்சோலைக் குழாங்கொள் பொய்கைக் கோள்முதலை வாள்எயிற்றுக் கொண்டற்கு எள்கி,
அழுந்தியமா களிற்றினுக்கு அன்று ஆழி யேந்தி அந்தரமே வரத்தோன்றி யருள் செய்தானை,
எழுந்த மலர்க் கருநீலமிருந்தில் காட்ட இரும்புன்னை முத்தரும்பிச் செம்பொன்காட்ட,
செழுந்தடநீர்க் கமலம் தீவிகை போல் காட்டும் திருக்கோவலூரதனுள் கண்டேன் நானே. 2.10.3

108 வைணவ திருப்பதிகளிலும் திருக்கோவிலூரில் மட்டுமே வலக்கரத்தில் சங்கை ஏந்தியுள்ளார் பெருமாள்.
2200 ஆண்டுகளாக, இதன் சிறப்பை ஓவியங்கள், நாணயங்கள், சிற்பங்கள் வாயிலாகக் காணலாம்.

Out of all the 108 Srivaishnava temples all over India, the main icon (Moolavar) in Tirukkoyilur has the distinction of the only stalam where Perumal is holding the conch in his right hand. Koval (கோவல்) means a raised land, because of the rocky outcroppings, and this country is Malayanadu "hill country", and in Sangam era, Malayaman chieftains ruled here. In the Srivaishnava literature, Kovalur is translated as "Krishna Kshetram". kO- "to herd, to join together", kOvalan => Gopalan. Tirukoyilur is one of Pancha Krishna (Krishnaranya) temples sung by Alvars.

Alvars sing Gajendra Moksham story at Tirukkoyilur. When Narayana, mounted on garuda rushes to save the elephant, he is seen holding the conch in his right hand. There are old paintings where Perumal blows his conch at the end of Gajendra moksha blessing both the elephant and crocodile.

Just like Vasudeva-Krishna blows his conch at the start and also at the end of the epic MBh war, here at Tirukkoyilur, at the end of Trivikrama avatar, he hold his conch in the right hand in a joyous mood while blessing Mahabali. The first three Alvars who attained Moksha here are also shown along with the 18-feet tall, wooden Trivikrama icon. A painting by artist Manivel Achari is attached.

Krishna/Vishnu was put in a predicament and tight situation in three instances. The first one was (1) Gajendra Moksham. Then, (2) Hiranyakasipu and (3) Disrobing of Draupati. The story of Gajendra Moksha, where Vishnu saved Gajendra, the King of elephants, from the clutches of a crocodile. Gajendra, in his previous birth lived on the earth as a Pandyan King Indradyumna (Bhagavatam, Canto 8). This episode is first elaborately told many times in Alvars' Pasurams and gets translated in Srimad Bhagavatam.
