நாகை,தஞ்சை,திருச்சி,கடலூர்,காரைக்கால் மற்றும் புதுவையைச் சேர்ந்த ரோட்டரி சங்கங்களின் பிரம்மாண்ட மாநாடு மகாபலிபுரத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. சனிக்கிழமையன்று நடந்த நிகழ்ச்சியில் எழுத்தாளரும் பாடலாசிரியருமான கபிலன்வைரமுத்து சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக கலந்துகொண்டு ‘வலிமை’ என்ற தலைப்பில் சிறப்புரையாற்றினார். விழாவில் கபிலன்வைரமுத்து ஆற்றிய உரையின் சுருக்கம் கீழ் வருமாறு:
”தகவல்யுகத்தின் மிகப்பெரிய சவால் உண்மைத் தகவலை அறிவது. சொல்லப்படுகிற செய்திகளில் இருந்து சொல்லப்படாத செய்திகளை புரிந்துகொள்ள ஒரு பகுத்தறிவு வலிமை தேவைப்படுகிறது. பன்னாட்டு ஊடகங்களும் வணிக அரசியலும் நமக்கு முன்னால் தோண்டிப்போட்டிருக்கும் பள்ளங்களில் விழுந்து விழுந்து எழுந்து ஓடுகிறோம். என்றாவது ஒருநாள் எழ முடியாத அளவிற்கு ஒரு பெரும் பள்ளம் தோண்டப்படுவதற்குள் நாம் விழித்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டும். மேற்கத்திய வளர்ச்சி தத்துவமும் நகரமயமாதலும் தனி மனித முன்னேற்றத்தை மையப்படுத்துகிறதா அல்லது அதிநவீன முதலாளித்துவத்தை உருவாக்குகிறதா என்ற கேள்வி எழுகிறது. 1947க்கு முன் இருந்ததைவிட இப்பொழுதுதான் நாம் இன்னும் விசுவாசமான அடிமைகளாக இருக்கிறோம் என்று தோன்றுகிறது. எங்கே எதைத் தொடங்கவேண்டும் என்று சதா அலைபாய்வது மேற்கத்திய வளர்ச்சி தத்துவம். எங்கே நிறுத்திக்கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்ற தெளிவுதான் இந்திய தத்துவம். அந்தத் தெளிவை நாம் புரிந்துகொள்ளவேண்டியிருக்கிறது. வெள்ளம் என்ற வலியில் இருந்து மனிதநேயம் என்ற வலிமை பிறந்தது போல், இன்றைய நம் வலிகள் நாளைய மாற்றமாக மலரும் என்று நம்புவோம்”
இவ்வாறு கபிலன்வைரமுத்து பேசினார். ரோட்டரி சங்கத் தலைவர் திரு. குணசேகரன், விழா தலைவர் மணிமாறன் உள்ளிட்ட பலரும் கலந்துகொண்டனர். முன்னதாக காலை நடந்த நிகழ்ச்சியில் உயர்நீதிமன்ற முன்னாள் தலைமை நீதிபதி திரு.கற்பகவிநாயகம் மற்றும் திராவிடர் கழகத் தலைவர் திரு.கி.வீரமணி சிறப்புரையாற்றினர். தஞ்சை தொழிலதிபர் திரு.ஆசிஃப் அலி, திரு.செழியன் விழா ஏற்பாடுகளை செய்திருந்தனர்.
URBANIZATION IS A INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE FOR CAPITALISM
Kabilan Vairamuthu’s rebellious speech at the Rotary Conference
“The western Idea of Development is not for the common man. It is a mere design to safeguard industrial capitalism. And urbanization is just an interior architecture for the same. Replicating the idea in our soil will lead to more calamities like the recent flood” writer lyricist Kabilan Vairamuthu spoke at the grand rotary conference held at Mahabalipuram on saturday. Kabilan was invited by the rotary association to deliver a guest note on “Valimai”. The writer began his address by stating “awareness is real strength.” Kabilan mentioned about the need to possess sharp reflex to face unexpected situations which he termed “bouncer moments of life”. There was a lot of sarcasm when he discussed about the hyper active information age and how tricky it is to read between the different sources of media. “Every time when we access the social media, we are being accessed too. There are huge possibilities for us being sold without our knowledge” Kabilan added. “The world is a beautiful and amicable space where we exchange ideas between societies. While the western Idea of development is based on industries, the Indian idea of development is based on humanity. The latter is an effort to cultivate peace and to identify with the nature. Practicing the same and transferring it to the next generation is the need of the hour” he explained. Kabilan concluded his 45 minutes speech by reading his poem on the recent disaster in TamilNadu. The poem had strong verses of optimism.
Rotary district governor Gunasekaran, Conference chairman Manimaran and few other delegates of the rotary association were present on the stage. The auditorium which is a capacity of three thousand seats was jam packed with members from Tanjore, Nagapattinam, Trichy,Kaaraikal, Kadaloor and Pondicherry. Asif Ali and Chezhian from Tanjore were the chief organizers of the event.
