Hey everyone,

I know I've mentioned this on the main list, but I just wanted to let you know that I am not ignoring VT, nor your suggestions. I plan to start working on VT again in earnest after cfO and will implement as many of the suggested enhancements as I can, including the changes to generated client-side validations.

I know that Adam has a new solution for the client-side in the works, but I think it makes sense to implement these small improvements into the existing code base sooner rather than later, and then Adam can include those in his work.

I'll likely start off with a new roadmap shortly after cfO. I'll share it with the group and I'll look for any feedback anyone has on it, and any volunteers who are interested in implementing any of the items.

If you'll be at cfO please find me and say hi (if I don't find you first).

Cheers,
Bob

I just started making some mods to ValidateThis this morning
(detecting javascript libraries and only loading if they don't exist)
after not looking at it for ages. One thing I have noticed, is that
ClientScriptWriter_qForms is referencing some js files that aren't in
the download. Is qForm still supported?

Adam - I've had a quick look at your plugin and it looks pretty damn
clever!. Only thoughts at the moment are that it'll mean that we
probably can't use a CDN to load it (which is the case with the
jquery.field.min.js anyway), and also you're setting the validator
defaults ($.validator.setDefaults) which may break existing installs.

The qForms implementation was a partial implementation I built years ago and never finished (I don't use qForms anymore) so really all references to it and all files relating to it should be deleted from the repo.

I had that same thought about the CDN. I wonder how difficult it is to get something onto a CDN though. I imagine it's next to impossible to get something we built onto one of the major CDNs, but is there perhaps some sort of OSS-friendly CDN out there that would host the plugin for us?

Marcos Placona posted an interesting article about using Google App
engine as a free CDN a while back:
