Moving Forum box

I have a page where students pick from a list of forums, which forum they want to add to. When they click a forum's "share" button, they are directed to a page with a box that allows them to write text, share, and tag it. Instead of leading them to a new page, I want the box to just be a dropdown when they click the "share" button. Is this possible, and if so, what resources should I look at?

Can you provide a bit more context? Is the page you're looking at part of the out-of-the-box Learning Environment/ePortfolio interface, or is this an app that you've built using the ePortfolio APIs? I believe it's part of the out-of-the-box interface. I want to make this request:

POST /d2l/api/eP/(version)/reflections/new

but I'm not sure how to authenticate this, and exactly what the EP.reflection object is that I should also be passing in. I made a separate post about this just now as well -- any ideas?
