I was at one of the Minnesota Valence Ignite sessions and Sarah-Beth suggested I post this question here.

Is it possible to use Valence or LTI to export data from a D2L SCORM report as a CSV file. Our library has been developing a number of SCORM packages that collect a lot of student inputted data which is saved in the SCORM reports. However, we have not figured out an easy way to export the data in a D2L SCORM report, there is no export to CSV option. So, we have resorted to cutting and pasting the tabular data from the report into Excel, cleaning it up and going from there. Would Valence allow us to create some kind of tool to export the SCORM reports to CSV?

We are currently using D2L 10.1 and moving to 10.3 in May.

Thanks!

Hi Eric

It was great to meet you at Ignite Minnesota. I'm glad to see that you've found your way to the ValenceUsers forum! I've passed this question along to some developers to help get an answer for you.

If anyone else in the Valence Community has any experience with exporting SCORM data, please feel free to chime in!

Hello again Eric

Speaking to some SCORM experts internally, we've determined that there isn't currently a way to export the data you're looking for using Valence LF APIs. In the web UI of LE version 10.1 and higher, it's possible to export the high-level statistics from the SCORM Reports page to .csv using the Export Statistics button, but detailed reports aren't available. (i.e. object-level or user-level reports).

If you're interested in requesting this sort of API functionality, can you provide a bit for detail around this use case? What data are you looking to export, and how are you using this data? In addition to making the suggestion here in the ValenceUsers forum, you can log this feature request to the Product Idea Exchange within the D2L Community.

Thanks for checking on this Sara-Beth. A few months ago I posted the export SCORM request to the Product Idea Exchange in the D2L Community. Hopefully it is something that will be part of a future D2L version.
