For each call documented in the Valence docs please add in what permissions are required for that call.

Thanks for posting this suggestion, Scott. I'll bring it to the attention of the team.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your request. For a variety of reasons, the problem to solve here likely won't be solved in this particular way. Instead, in order to make debugging easier, and client awareness richer of what the back-end service is doing, D2L has the strategy to put better, richer error reporting in place instead. The pace at which D2L is putting this strategy in place can be, admittedly, frustrating; however, that's the current approach we're committed to.

Thanks Viktor.
You should add it into the documentation too so that I don't have to rely on getting the right error messages the first time to know if I've got the permissions set up properly.
And, you could add it into the documentation bit by bit which is far better than the current state of nothing.

Hi,
This is still needed to make the documentation substantially more useful.

Hi Scott

We don't have any immediate plans to make changes to the API Reference. We hear you on all fronts - the need for clarity around permissions for API calls, the suggestion to add permissions information directly to the API reference, and the suggestion to incrementally add this info to the docs. We'll keep you posted as we find ways to address these issues.
