export grade data project?

Hello folks,

I am new to D2L, Valence API and LMS integrations via API.  I’m new to the D2L environment.  One of the projects I was asked to do is extract grade data from gradebook.   I’ve read the Getting started page, http://docs.valence.desire2learn.com/index.html, and have successfully ran the basic sample for the C#/.NET that you provided, https://github.com/Desire2Learn-Valence/valence-sdk-dotnet, on my local development.

We have appID and appKey. Now I don’t know what the next steps/process that I need to do. Do you any recipe that shows how to achieve this project? Can you provide us with some guidance to begin the process?

Welcome to the ValenceUsers forum! We don't have an API Cookbook recipe on this particular feature (I'll add that to our backlog, tho!) but I think you'll find the API Test Tool quite handy as you get started. You can update the host, app id and app key values to point to your own environment. Then you can log in with a user account that has sufficient privileges to read the grade data you're after. Once you're logged in, you can try out the various Grades APIs to see the data that comes back from each call, and use that insight to help you design your application.

Can you provide a bit more detail about the type of data you want to extract and how you want your app to present that data? That can help me create some context for an API Cookbook recipe for the future, as well.
