Every year congressional leaders from both parties gather to wash 'The Wall' prior to Memorial Day. Retired Marine Corps Lt. General Jack Bergman from Michigan's 1st Congressional District paused from this task yesterday to comment that as his brush went over the names he was 'thanking and remembering' those that were lost - but some of them like VAL-4's Joel Sandberg had special meaning. He went to college with Joel who remains in his thoughts often to this day.
This touching moment aired last night (May 23) on the CBS Evening News which is available to stream on Paramount Plus.
In March I "coined" retired 4 star General Jim Mattis - former Secretary of Defense - at LT. Cdr. John Butterfield's funeral, and will "coin" General Bergman as well.
Don't forget Broncofest in November.
