A road construction project beginning September 10 on 96th Street from Harrison Street to Portal Road will result in lane restrictions and closures until approximately mid-November.

The 96th Street project will include the removal and replacement of deteriorating bridge approaches and pavement panels. Crews will begin their work at Harrison Street and work south to Portal Road.

The bridge over the Burlington-Northern Railroad just south of Harrison Street will be restricted to one lane each direction for about three weeks. Traffic from both directions will be moved to one side of the bridge in a two-lane, two-way configuration, and then will be moved to the other side of the bridge in the same configuration. The rest of the project area will experience lane restrictions one lane each direction for pavement repairs in various areas. Each area may be closed for several days.

The project, which is being funded through an 80/20 split between the Federal Highway Administration and the City of La Vista, is expected to last until approximately mid-November, depending on weather. Consider alternate routes to avoid 96th Street during this time.
