Over the past one year, vaishnavism eClass has tried to introduce Aazhwaar's Divyaprabandham, and Aacharyaas' teachings in a unique way to reach your home for free.  Our emphasis was to reach to people who have interest, but no opportunity due to various reasons to learn these texts in an easy and qualitative manner.  We are confident that those attended liked the medium and mechanism of the delivery.  The efforts involved in these activities are priceless, just to quote, we worked 8 full hours everyday in preparation and delivery activities, but response was not that great.  For sure there are many reasons like priority, time, etc for luck warm response.

Keeping this in view and the operational effort and cost, we are at a junction confused on next steps.

Dear Sir/Madam

I, like many others, have been looking forward to the next classes on DD/DP theme. 

It is painful to learn the response is not great. Please tell me if there is anything I can do for the sustenance of your priceless kainkaryam. 

I myself have tried to tell some of my close acquaintances who might be interested, but none of them were confident of making it because of logistic concerns of being in a different timezone, clash with office time etc.

It is indeed a worthy contribution from your team with a noble interest in promoting Vaishnavism and Hindu Mythology in a simplest form. It should have honestly brought in many to the fore by now and certainly agreeable to the lukewarm response as at this stage.  If with God’s blessings, we could continue it little further bearing the difficulties, the existing members can be persuaded to bring in not less than 2 additional members to the forum per month in the days to come.

 

I am making this fervent appeal out of our interest in continuing on the fantastic journey while appreciative of the difficulties that you face at the operational level.

 

Let me also Pray the Almighty to make this august exercise well received by many in the days to come.

 

Please keep me posted on the development on your decision.  As a well wisher, I can be of as much help as I can towards this good cause.

In order to bring in only serious learners, this eClass will seize to exist as free eclass from 31-Jul-2012.  However, Vishnu Sahasranaamam would continue without any change.

As long 15 members are there per session, we shall have the session at morning / evening both weekday/weekend.

Adiyen's dandavat pranams at the feet of Acharyan Ramanuja and his divine instruments - our dear gurus - Sri  Suresh Swamin and Smt. Sridevi Suresh avargal. I join others in expressing my humble wish to continue to be part of this effort and the continuation of the class in a form seen fit. Adiyen would like to share my experience as a way to reinforce the interest and the humble plea. I am a novice when it comes to niyamanam, anushtanam and the opportunity to learn our sampradayam. Just like Sri Manavala Mamunigal says in his incomparable  Aarti Prabhandam - it was only due to the grace of Sri Ramanuja that a sinner like me  who is immersed in laukikam, and stashed away in a foreign land without Sri Vaishnava satsangam - got a chance to recite the Divyaprabhadam through the e-class. I agree with Sri Suresh swamin that our priorities shift due to our laukikam and material desires - I have missed many classes due to travel, serious illness in the family. There can be no excuses for those lapses. Even though Sri Suresh swamin and Smt Sridevi Suresh humbly bestow all credit to our impeccable Lord for the success - being an instrument still takes selfless commitment  that they have shown with great Sri Vaishnava zeal and leadership. My humble suggestion to keep the class going with some suggestions below:

1. Keeping in view that the class strength is at its lowest levels, one consideration may be to keep the same content (Divyadesam-Divyaprabhandam), reduce the number of classes per week to reflect enrollment ( say 2-3 times a week during week days instead of the current 5 days) or make it a weekend only class. (so 2 days a week)

2. Once the class roll grows again ...say... 25/50 every class. Take a re-poll and consider bringing the class back to a full time schedule. 

This may help correlate the effort - attendance balance, give the teachers some much desreved time, and bring in more people who may find their time commitment more manageable. 

3. I am open to sharing the cost factor to any extent to make this work.

4. Re-evaluate again next Thiru Aadi Pooram in 2013 and see where we are and continue to evolve/adjust to keep the journey going.

Once again, this class is a blessing from our divine divyadampathis through our Guru par excellence . I plead with HIM to bless our Gurus and us to grow and continue.

Another suggestion is to change the way we advertise the event.. 5 years may just seem prohibitively daunting to some that fear/regret discontinuing.

While the content and schedule remains the same, we can advertise at the beginning of each divyadesam (or as a group of 3 or 4 divyadesams  for the less referenced ones), so that people may find it easy to enter at anytime, and get a sense of completion even if they have to leave (?). While I understand this may be not in the best interest getting the `absolutely committed' people, this way the existing members will still get the whole prabhandam, and we will be able to serve more members who will convert to regulars over time ?

We are humbled with responses and ideas.  

This mission was started with Divyathampathis, Aazhwaar and Aacharyas intent, blessings and guidance to take the teachings of Divyaprabandham and other sacred texts to people who are interested but don't have access to it.  So, THEY are responsible to resolve any issues which may come during our journey towards the Goal.  Through this eClass, a social responsibility is met as well there is an urge to do some more to the society outside of the purview of these sacred texts.

Due to luckwarm response as well irregular attendance, we were asked to halt the free sessions.  Especially the morning Panchjanyam eClass members' regular attendance, dedication and interest in this eClass has melted the heart of the Lord.    Should we distinguish the members who are already dedicated towards learning VS needing a trigger to indulge in this journey? This was the motive behind making it Fee based, just to bind them in the journey. 

Following is the update:

1. Sri Vishnu Sahasranaamam (All days 6:30pm IST) and Sri Lakshmi Sahasranaama (Fri 6:00pm IST) Paaraayanam session to continue for free
2. Morning Panchajanyam eClass to continue as usual for free (require members to act as ambassadors of the eClass, see below)
3. All other existing sessions are cancelled with immediate effect
4. Current weekend Sudharshanam eClass is attended mainly by morning class members for koil thiruvoimozhi, which will be taken up in the morning class itself.  Total registered members for the weekend evening class is 98, but only morning class members attend to the maximum.
5. If there are 15 members interested for a session for a given timing (than Panchajanyam) class can be conducted for fixed fee (will be determined later), Possible sessions are 2 days weekend and weekday evening (2 days per week).

Vaishnavism.eClass requests morning class members (Panchajanyam) with the following:

each member of the morning class is responsible:

• to bring in atleast 2 new members every quarter
  
• to organize a quarterly event in your city to bring in awareness and to introduce new members
  
• to advertise about the class through possible media
  
• to identify social cause which requires funding in and around divyadesams, including operational cost of the divya desam.  This can be funded from a portion of the fee collected or other contribution from members.
• any other idea from you to enrich the experience of existing members and take the class to the next level

Since we are learning at a comfortable 3-4 pasurams pace per hour, it may be also good to include the meaning -- atleast to show on the slide so that we can individually go through, if nothing more, after reciting the full pasuram for 5 times. 

We can take turns to volunteer for getting the meanings in slides to help guruji.

If possible you can keep the week days session around 8.00 p.m. so that office goers can also join.After receiving the mail about the new session, I am making my best efforts to make my near and dear to join too. As you have quoted mere joining doesn't make any sense and the value of the class is not recognised by few which cannot be forcibly injected and should be realised from the self. It doesn't mean that our hunting for the same get stopped here.Let us all pray the Almighty to support us in this regard.

Thankyou Sureshji for this mail. I live in Gurgaon, haryana. I am trying to bring in some shrivaishnavas living in this part of the country into this(only who are going tobe serious learners). I am already on this job. May I request you to tell me how many classes are we going to have in a week and the class timings, just to inform my 'wouldbe participants'. As you suggested, I am planning to call them home so that I can explain things to them in person. And if I succeed, as you said we'll meet once in three months later. Is there any plan , method and timing for working people who are interested? Please guide us to do the needful to take this project forward. Thank you very much for your mail.  I am trying to get new member by spreading the information about the class, but could not get. The problem is the member should have interest and computer literate.  So advertisement is the best one.  In this regard i give below the following suggestions:

    1) Give online advertisement in vaishnavism related sites(like Kichitkaram Trust) as was done in Aundinam.org. Members can find out the various sites and this work can be assigned to any one with knowledge in this. 

    2)Advertisement can be given in journals like, Sri Narasimha Priya and Ranganatha Paduka etc.

    3)Travel agents arranging tours to 108 Divyadesams can be approached and notices  can be given for distribution to Srivaishnavas.

    4) Arrangement can be made to make announcement in the stages where discourses are given by Sri Velukkudi Swami.I came to know            about the class   from such announcement. This can be done by any member who is attending the Discourse regularly

   for all these things a fund can be raised from members and work can be distributed among the members. so that each one can be involved,

 Already I discussed about advertising in Sri Narasimha Priya with Mrs. Sundarraman and Jayalakshmi.  If approved We will do it.
Pl send the details of chennai members so that we can arrange quarterly meetings.

    This is only my humble suggestions. if any point is not workable,pl ignore it.
