hello.

Its failing because there is no webserver/box/files on that url.

Try boxes from here:

Alvaro.

Hi Alvaro,

Thanks for that I realized later but url what you have provided is really helpful except downloading the boxes is taking forever.

Is there any quicker way to download the vagrant boxes? may be torrent or via browser?

Please advise.

Kind Regards,
Jim

Thanks

vagrant can use:

config.vm.box = "name"
config.vm.box_url = "url"

and you could use a local path for boxes you have already donloaded

say file:///path/mybox.box

or you can add a box locally like

vagrant box --name <name>  file

where file can be local path or some url that curl read.. i think http/https/ftp (??)

so if you distribute/download boxes from torrent, you can just point to the local file

Alvaro,

I think you didn't got my point.

C:\OnlyOnMyPC\Vagrant-VM's\windows2012server>vagrant box add opentable/win-2012r
ndard-amd64-nocm
==> box: Loading metadata for box 'https://atlas.hashicorp.com/opentable/boxes/w
in-2012r2-standard-amd64-nocm'
This box can work with multiple providers! The providers that it
can work with are listed below. Please review the list and choose
the provider you will be working with.

1) virtualbox
2) vmware_desktop

Enter your choice: 1
==> box: Adding box 'opentable/win-2012r2-standard-amd64-nocm' (v1.0.0) for prov
ider: virtualbox
ndard-amd64-nocm/versions/1.0.0/providers/virtualbox.box
==> box: Box download is resuming from prior download progress
box: Progress: 0% (Rate: 51131/s, Estimated time remaining: 4:45:27))

Does this explain the problem?

Not sure who closed this ticket,

Cheers
Jim

Hello.

The box is:

If you read the info it says "external" that means the box is not hosted in atlas, so it goes redirected to some other server.

Why is slow? question to the owner of the box.

it seems the box is hosted in AWS, but not sure why is slow from where you are located.

ie

As for the ticket, this particular box is not hosted in atlas, so not sure what is the expectation.

Thanks
Alvaro.

Well, the expectation of consumer would be 'to be able to download the vagrant image' without much time. I believe there should be a internal atlas public repository for all images?

Cheers
