Unable to downgrade vagrant version

I'm new to vagrant.  I am currently on version 1.8.4 and want to downgrade to 1.8.1

OS: Mac 10.11.5

Followed steps from here: https://releases.hashicorp.com/vagrant/1.8.1/

rm -rf /Applications/Vagrant
rm -f /usr/local/bin/vagrant
sudo pkgutil --forget com.vagrant.vagrant

sudo rm ~/.vagrant.d

Downloaded dmg file from here:  https://releases.hashicorp.com/vagrant/1.8.1/

After installing version still says 1.8.4

I ran the uninstall script found in the download file. That fixed it. It looks like there were still some vagrant files in my system.
