Hi  Folks,

does anyone uses vmware + Vagrant utility for vmware workstation or pro version ? i haven't been successful to install utility (.msi file) as getting following error message. I have VMWare Workstation 11 (registered), even tried it on vmware workstation pro 14 and got the same error message.

"Vagrant Vmware utility requires a valid installation of vmware workstation. Please install vmware workstation and then run this installer again"

I opened a ticket with hashicorp support and they are just ignoring the issue. it's been 8 days since i opened the case and have been asking for the update.

Thanks for any comments.

I know that this post is a year old now, but I ran into the same issue. I was in contact with the support department and they didn't suggest this after a week of interaction. I'm hoping this helps others who may have the same issue. Here's what I got to work for me on a Windows 7 host computer with Vagrant VMware Utility Version 1.0.7.

The download link for the Vagrant VMware utility gives you a MSI installer. The trick is to get the MSI installer to run as admin, which you can't do in Windows 7 from the Windows Explorer (at least I don't know how to). If you open an admin command prompt, you can navigate to the MSI installer and execute it. Once I did that, I got past the same error message as the previous poster and now I'm able to use Vagrant with VMware Workstation Pro 15.
