Hello Alvaro,

Executing the following instructions to spin up the CentOS 7 vagrant machine

C:\OnlyOnMyPC\Vagrant-Machines>mkdir test

C:\OnlyOnMyPC\Vagrant-Machines>cd test

C:\OnlyOnMyPC\Vagrant-Machines\test>vagrant init
A `Vagrantfile` has been placed in this directory. You are now
ready to `vagrant up` your first virtual environment! Please read
the comments in the Vagrantfile as well as documentation on
`vagrantup.com` for more information on using Vagrant.

C:\OnlyOnMyPC\Vagrant-Machines\test>vagrant box add centos/7
The box 'centos/7' could not be found or
could not be accessed in the remote catalog. If this is a private
box on HashiCorp's Atlas, please verify you're logged in via
`vagrant login`. Also, please double-check the name. The expanded
URL and error message are shown below:

Error: Failed to connect to atlas.hashicorp.com port 443: Timed out

I can access http://www.devopstalks.com/ via browser not sure what is the isse.

Any idea what is the issue and how to resolve it ?

Many Thanks
Jim

vagrant init

Hello

This command is wrong

vagrant init

should be
vagrant init centos/7

However this command is correct:
vagrant box add centos/7

but is not able to download the box

do you need to setup a proxy to get access to the internet?

Hi Alvaro,

Issue resolved as my first command was incorrect. I however wonder why its taking so long to download the boxes ! ?

c:\OnlyOnMyPC\Vagrant-Machines\vm1.master>vagrant box add centos/7 --force
==> box: Loading metadata for box 'centos/7'
This box can work with multiple providers! The providers that it
can work with are listed below. Please review the list and choose
the provider you will be working with.

1) libvirt
2) virtualbox
3) vmware_desktop
4) vmware_fusion

Enter your choice: 2
==> box: Adding box 'centos/7' (v1702.01) for provider: virtualbox
1/providers/virtualbox.box
box: Progress: 12% (Rate: 254k/s, Estimated time remaining: 2:26:45))

Note in this time period I would download Centos 7 image and build VM on Virtualbox so people would go for vagrant ?

Kindly note that there is no proxies but direct connection to internet.

Kind Regards,
Jim

Kind Regards,

There could be a proxy if you are connecting in the company network.

Second, you could be using a Personal Firewall preventing your vagrant to connect to the atlas....

Is something of this?

THank you

Nope non of the things you mentioned. Something to do at the hosted site. It just takes long time. I am wondering if there are boxes local to Australia ? Maybe that would make things faster ?
