I am currently working with vagrant 1.7.2 on Windows.
I would like to update to the newest version (currently 1.7.4)

Yet, I am unsure how I can do this while keeping my boxes and the configuration, e.g. the VAGRANT_HOME setting, the plugin licenses, etc.

Do I have to uninstall the old version first? Will this delete the above mentioned data and configurations?

Thank you for your help!

Hello there

What license is that? if vagrant-vmware-workstation plugin, , that
license should persist after the install.

For the other settings, including existing boxes, etc, etc, all should
keep working fine.

If after the install the installer ask for a reboot, please do that
since in Windows it's required.

If you have any issue after that with the license, you can download a
new license file for the same url, and relicense again.

If you don't have the license email/url, feel free to email
sup...@hashicorp.com to get that email resent.

As for the upgrade, the new version of vagrant should install on top
of the other

once that is done, you can do

vagrant plugin list
vagrant plugin update
vagrant plugin list

and confirm the plugins if any also got updated

Alvaro.

HI Alvaro!

Thanks for the instant reply. I can confirm: the update seems to be successful.
I did not unninstall the old version but simply installed the new version "over the old one".
Everything was kept, inlcuding boxes and plugin licenses.

Nice.
