Hi,

Is it possible to create a droplet from a snapshot in Digital Ocean? If so what configuration option do I need to use for that?

Thank you.

The Digital Ocean provider does not support creating a droplet from a snapshot yet. I'm currently working on adding this to the provider shortly.

The DO support told me that the best way to go about re-creating and testing a droplet environment locally would be by using a snapshot of the droplet as a base box for Vagrant. I'm not sure what they mean though, as the snapshot cannot even be downloaded yet.
Shawn, is this now possible with the vagrant-digitalocean provider?

Hello, in the past seems you could create your own image from an
snapshot and the DO plugin used ID and life was good.

DO changed to slug (names), the plugin updated that, and now you cant
(from last time I did check) start from snaps

To be honest, my actual goal is to be able to have a functional copy of the droplet locally. I want to be able to bring it up locally with, say, the virtualbox provider, modify it, provision it, and then re-deploy it to the droplet with the vagrant-digitalocean provider. Everyone says it's possible, and easy, but nobody can produce an explanation on how this could be made to work. Any ideas?

If I can do that, I'll settle for creating the droplet via the vagrant-digitalocean provider instead of creating a vagrant box from a snapshot.
