I really liked this book. It’s essentially a qualitative study of Korean-American families. But it’s so thoughtful in expressing current realities in the context of national history and emerging trends. The authors explored Korean-American identity with a level of transparency and open-mindedness that I haven’t really seen before. It’s very raw and human, yet refreshingly avoids dramatization or imposition of a lifestyle.
And it’s certainly not unique to Korean-American identities. I thought a lot of it was quite universal for children of immigrant parents.
So I just wanted to share in case anyone (or anyone you know) might be interested. It’s in your public libraries too, so you don’t have to necessarily buy it! :)
