to Virginia Genealogical Society Queries
Looking for parents of Thomas Morris who died in Orange County, VA 1789. In a property purchase in 1759 for 400 acres on Russell Run in Orange Co. it is stated "Thomas Morris of Culpeper, Virginia" Wife's name - Mary.

It is very doubtful that Virginia counties keep vital records from that = period. However, some churches kept vital records, depending on the = denomination. Presbyterians and Methodist were good, Baptist not so = much. Quakers kept excellent records. Quaker records have been published = in a 5 volume series.=20
Go to WorldCat.org and search for published sources for each of the = denominations mentioned above.
But, you should try first to find a Morris will that mentions Thomas as = a son. That would identify the father. Try to find the book below in a = library.=20
Torrence, Clayton. Virginia Wills and Administrations, 1632-1800
It lists wills by surname for all Virginia counties for the period = indicated in the title. That will at least tell you how many Morris = wills were probated in Orange County. Then it=E2=80=99s a process of = elimination until you find the right one.
There may also be published abstracts of Orange County wills. Again, go = to WorldCat.org and search for =E2=80=9COrange County Virginia wills."
