Looking for parents of Thomas Morris who died in Orange County, VA 1789. In a property purchase in 1759 for 400 acres on Russell Run in Orange Co. it is stated "Thomas Morris of Culpeper, Virginia"  Wife's name - Mary.

It is very doubtful that Virginia counties keep vital records from that =
period. However, some churches kept vital records, depending on the =
denomination. Presbyterians and Methodist were good, Baptist not so =
much. Quakers kept excellent records. Quaker records have been published =
in a 5 volume series.=20

Go to WorldCat.org and search for published sources for each of the =
denominations mentioned above.

But, you should try first to find a Morris will that mentions Thomas as =
a son. That would identify the father. Try to find the book below in a =
library.=20

Torrence, Clayton. Virginia Wills and Administrations, 1632-1800

It lists wills by surname for all Virginia counties for the period =
indicated in the title. That will at least tell you how many Morris =
wills were probated in Orange County. Then it=E2=80=99s a process of =
elimination until you find the right one.

There may also be published abstracts of Orange County wills. Again, go =
to WorldCat.org and search for =E2=80=9COrange County Virginia wills."
