At the National Library of Ireland in Dublin, I recently searched a "Book of 23 maps of estate of W. Courtenay baronet in barony of Connello, Co Limerick by William Molans, 1709. 16 F 2". This shows "Mr. Andrew Mead" holding over 1200 acres in the townland of Kilconlea, Parish of Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick. This is on the border with Co. Kerry, which was the traditional birthplace of Andrew Meade(born say 1680) of Virginia(I have always been skeptical about the claimed connection with titled Meades in the City of Cork). Andrew's grandson David Meade stated that Andrew was originally a Catholic, born in Co. Kerry, Ireland. Perhaps Andrew of Abbeyfeale, Limerick in 1709 was a close relative, and this area might be further explored for early Meades. Please pass on this info to Meade researchers. I can send images of the rental and maps upon request, offline at ap...@earthlink.net.
