Gadhada Pratham 40: Savikalp Nirvikalp Samadhinu

- Then Muktanand Swami asked: What is Savikalp samadhi and Nirvikalp
Samadhi? Then Maharaj answered: One who has been engrossed in God and
only has pure thoughts he is said to be in savikalp samadhi. However,
one who has been engrossed but does not have the pure thoughts is said
to be in a nirvikalp samadhi.

- Then Muktanand swami asked: What is the difference between bhakti
and upasna? maharaj answered: " shravanam kirtanam vishno smaranam
padsevanam, archanam vandanam dasyam sakhya atmanivedanam" These nine
ways are of bhakti. Then he explained upasna as having a firm
conviction that God possesses a form. And this conviction cannot be
altered even by the scriptures. This is said to be having upasna.

Application: we should undestand what savikalp and nirvikalp samadhi
is and what the difference between bhakti and upasna is.
