Jai Swaminarayan,
Gadhada Pratham 38: Vanikna Namanu/ A merchant's balance sheet
Date:Maha sud 1876 Where: Dadakhachar's
Darbar Clothes: All white
- Maharaj explains the importance of introspecting constantly, and to
introspect about their bhakti and how much it has improved. He
compares this to owing the debt to a merchant. As paying the merchant
monthly is easier than paying him yearly.
- Maharaj continues by saying that the mind is saturated by worldly
desires. However, just as a sesame seed is filled with scent from the
flowers one should saturate one's mind with flowers as in the
remembrance of God's action and his greatness. And the mind should
constantly be filled with the thought of God. After one thought ends
another should arise. Hence, the mind should not be left idle.
- Maharaj still continued by saying, that if one remembers the actions
and darshan of God for just one day then there is no end to him then
that means that there is no end to a person who has been in satsang
for 10-15 years.
- Then maharaj explained that one should remeber the actions in a
manner as such that what town, how Maharaj did puja, and what
discourses were said, etc. Then he goes on to say that the method he
has given is the best method.
- Then maharaj said that the mind, if pure, cannot be harmed. then he
said that if one acts as if he is doing satsang and all but he has
constant worldly thoughts coming up then his body and soul will suffer
severly. This is just what happened to Bharat. even though he was
Rushabhdev's son and had renounced his kingdom, at the time of his
death he remembered the fawn and so became a deer. Then he refers back
to his principal. He explains that doing fasts may weak the mind and
body, but once the body is back again so is the mind. Thus, one should
have physical and mental renunciation.
- Then maharaj explained that even a householder should have mental
renunciation. He talked about King Janak briefly.
- Then it is explained that if one has impure thought's then he should
tell them to one who is not affected by impure thoughts in all of his
activities. Also this person should have the same thought of
eradicating your thoughts just as he has. One should go to this
person. And after eradicating your impure thoughts one should remember
God.
- The Maharaj explained that on ekadashi one should control the ten
indriyas and the eleventh mind and concentrate on God.
- If a renunciate is thinking like janak and acts like him then he is
considered an Ekantik Bhakt.
- Then Mota Atmanand swami asks, What is the characteristics of the
Jivaatma? maharaj answers: the jiva is the speaker that elaborates on
the indriyas.
Application: We should do daily darshan and remember the murti.
