Vachanamrut Gadhada I-43: Char Prakarni Muktinu:

Date: Maha sudi 7, Samvat 1876
Place: Dada Khachar's Darbar
Clothing: White khes and pagh, and He was wearing a thick white cotton
cloth. He also had flowers inserted into his pagh, and yellow flowers
inserted on his ears.
Audience: Munis and devotees from various places.

Maharaj asked asked the devotees a question: The Shrimad Bhagvat says
that devotees of God do not desire the four types of liberation, so
what are the four types of liberation? The first is to reside in the
realm of God, the second is to stay near God, the third to assume a
from like God's, and the last one is to attain powers like God. A
devotee of God does not wish any of these things, the only wish to
serve God. Why doesn't a devotee wish to do this four types of
liberation?
None f the paramhansas were able to answer the question.
Maharaj answered: One who desires those four types of liberation after
becoming a devotee is called a sakam devotee. A devotee who has no
desire for those four types of liberations and onlywish to serve God
are known as nishkam Devotee. The Shrimad Bhagvat says, A nishkam
devotee of God does not desire the four types of liberation, he only
wishes to serve God. In turn God keeps him in His service. Kaplidev
Bhagawan said: Shri Krishna Bhagwan only refers to devotees with gnan
as nishkam devotees, sakam devotees are considered materialistic. So a
devotee should not wish for anything but service of God. If a devotee
desires anything else, then that deficiency should be removed, it
should be overcome by the association of an Ekantik Bhakta.

Application: We should desire nothing else but to serve God.
