France photos, (8) Museum touring, October 2019
Lora took all these photos of our trip in France (24 Sept to 2 Nov 2019)
These photos were at a Matisse Chapel in Vence (a bus ride from downtown Nice), and a side trip to Ventimiglia (Italy), which was a fairly short train ride from Nice.
(I took over 2 hours of videos of France.
And I wrote a summary of our trip. Those can be found on my Vacation Stories website
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/vacation-stories
Inside the PDF of those topics, are links to videos of the trip.)
After our 8-day Backroads Biking Trip, we met with another “just retired” couple,
and we started a 1-month tour of France, with special attention to museums.
During the first 2 weeks, we toured Paris, Lyon, and Avignon.
In the last 2 weeks in France, we stayed in a hotel in Nice.
And we did some side trips, usually getting there by trains.
We typically got around in France, using trains.
We had all obtained a “Eurail Pass” in advance of our trip.
We finally returned to Paris, and then flew home by 2 November.

Clarifications of captions from some of the photos.
9. The artist, Matisse, and the sister who helped him recover from a serious illness.
After his recovery, at age 72, he felt like he had been given a second life.
Matisse eventually decides to build a chapel for the Dominican nuns.
He spends 4 years on the design of the project.
Matisse died at age 84, a couple years after completion of the chapel.
39. We took a day trip from Nice (France), via a train ride, to just inside Italy, to Ventimiglia. 29 October.
40. One of our first stops in Ventimiglia was a food market. Lora was most impressed by the variety of vegetables and produce. (Likely because most of our meals in France had a minimal selection of fruits and vegetables.)
Ventimiglia (Italy). To add to the geographic confusion, the French spell this town "Vintimilli"
