France photos, (7) Museum touring, October 2019
Lora took all these photos of our trip in France (24 Sept to 2 Nov 2019)
These are photos from Arles, France — and the Roman Aqueducts (in Pont du Gard) not far from Avignon — and a trip to Antibes (to see a Picasso Museum), and there is a photo of one statue in Vallauris, where we visited another Picasso museum.
(I took over 2 hours of videos of France.
And I wrote a summary of our trip. Those can be found on my Vacation Stories website
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/vacation-stories
Inside the PDF of those topics, are links to videos of the trip.)
After our 8-day Backroads Biking Trip, we met with another “just retired” couple,
and we started a 1-month tour of France, with special attention to museums.
During the first 2 weeks, we toured Paris, Lyon, and Avignon.
In the last 2 weeks in France, we stayed in a hotel in Nice.
And we did some side trips, usually getting there by trains.
We typically got around in France, using trains.
We had all obtained a “Eurail Pass” in advance of our trip.
We finally returned to Paris, and then flew home by 2 November.

Clarifications of captions from some of the photos.
3. While in Arles, we tried to "follow in the footsteps of Van Gogh," to visit the locations where he painted. At those designated location are placards (“signs”) showing the art work he painted, while at that physical location.
It was sort of like a "scavenger hunt" to find all those locations, in town, where Van Gogh had once painted specific works of art.
21. The Roman aqueducts (Pont du Gard). We did a side trip, while in Avignon, to this location.
We arranged this tour, by hiring a guide to drive us there. He had a van that carried up to 6 passengers.
31. One day, from Nice, we took another day trip, by train, to Cannes, to see another Picasso museum. We ended up taking a taxi to the museum in nearby Vallauris. However, the only pictures Lora took that day was this statue.
31. One of the items in the Picasso museum, in Vallauris (France), was a chapel that Picasso painted.
We were not allowed to take pictures in the chapel, yet Lora found a website where the art work of the chapel can be viewed. The rest of the museum had ceramic art work of Picasso. On a previous day (in Antibes, France) we saw a number of art works of Picasso. Some of these can be seen in my video of Art Museums in France.
This is the link for the Picasso chapel.
