Machane Shachbag 2018 was a huge success--read more below!
Dear Friends,

From February 15-19, over 1000 Tzofim teenagers from across North America came together in Southern California for our annual Machane Shachbag, our teen leadership camp. Over the long weekend, teenagers honed their leadership skills to improve their roles as counselors in their Tzofim chapters, hiked and enjoyed nature, and had the opportunity to bond with Israeli teens--in Hebrew! This was also an opportunity for our parent lay leaders to meet and discuss how to grow the Israeli presence and engagement in their communities.

Below, please enjoy some snapshots and videos from the weekend!

Sincerely,
Daniel J. Katz, President
Shay Tal, Executive Director

and our entire Tzofim family

Machane Tet

Machane Tet, our special camp for 9th graders, is an important part of their training to become counselors in their chapters. This is also the first time that they have gathered with their peers from Tzofim chapters from across North America, so it is an especially exciting time!

Campers went hiking, participated in Yom Sport, celebrated Shabbat, and built and participated in activities together, to get a taste of their work next year as counselors.
When words just aren't enough--click below for a taste of Machane Shachbag 2018!
Machane Shachbag

Machane Shachbag is our leadership camp for teens in grades 10-12. Campers participated in special activities by age group: an Escape Room for 10th graders, a leadership workshop for 11th graders, and an Amazing Race-style contest for 12th graders. For the 12th graders, Machane Shachbag is especially emotional, as it is their last time participating in this intense and meaningful camp. The campers also participated in Erev Tzababa, a movie and talent show competition between the different chapters. Congratulations to Shevet Lavie from Atlanta, who won!

Machane Shachbag concluded with a ceremony and fire sign, made by the campers.
Rashei Shvatim

The long weekend also offered programming for our amazing Rashei Shvatim (Chapter Heads), the parent lay leaders who volunteer their time to ensure that our Tzofim chapters run smoothly. During the camp, Rashei Shvatim participated in seminars about leadership, community-building, budgeting, and planning for the future of the Israel Scouts in North America. The Rashei Shvatim also had the opportunity to hike and participate in activities in Machane Tet and Machane Shachbag.
