Vaping and E-Cigarettes

Dear Families,

As you are aware, many cigarette smokers and non-cigarette smokers have begun using electronic cigarettes/vapes as an alternative to traditional cigarettes, in some cases because there is a belief that e-cigs/vapes are a healthier option. The toxicant levels of e-cigs/vapes are equal to or greater than in traditional cigarette smoke. Many new studies have shown that levels of formaldehyde and heavy metals have been found to be even higher than those found in cigarettes. Formaldehyde and added heavy metals are known to cause lung and heart disease.

As school officials, we have many concerns with the use of electronic smoking devices. What is of great concern is the use of vapes to smoke marijuana and THC oils, in large part because the ease of use and the lack of odor/detection can lead to increased use of the drug and subsequent increased levels of addiction.

We wanted to provide you with visuals of what the Juul device and the THC oil (91.18% THC) device look like. Please see below.

Below is a device that is 91.18% Pure THC Oil - the active ingredient in Marijuana.

We appreciate your understanding and value our partnership in working to maintain our students' well-being. Please help our students make good choices when it comes to cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and vaping of any kind.

Best Regards,
