Last night I learned that Bob Rinker died in his sleep on Friday night or Saturday morning. He had been in an assisted-living facility for a few months suffering from Parkinson's disease. He was 90 years old.
I first met Bob in October of 1948 when he enrolled at VSDB. After talking to him for a few minutes I knew that I was going to like this guy. I was not disappointed.
This man was one of the finest people I ever knew. I never heard him swear or say anything derogatory about anyone. I can honestly say that no one else that I've ever known comes near his goodness and honesty.
Good-bye, old friend. Hundreds of people will mourn your absence from among us.
