Last night I learned that Bob Rinker died in his sleep on Friday night or Saturday morning.  He had been in an assisted-living facility for a few months suffering from Parkinson's disease.  He was 90 years old.

I first met Bob in October of 1948 when he enrolled at VSDB.  After talking to him for a few minutes I knew that I was going to like this guy.  I was not disappointed.

This man was one of the finest people I ever knew.  I never heard him swear or say anything derogatory about anyone.  I can honestly say that no one else that I've ever known comes near his goodness and honesty.

Good-bye, old friend.  Hundreds of people will mourn your absence from among us.

Virgil, I totally agree with everything you said. I was one of Bob's students in piano tuning. It took us a while, but we reconnected about 20 years ago, and it was one of the best things that could've happened to me regarding resuming an old friendship.
Bob not only taught piano tuning, but he taught me a lot about life, respect of others, and how you treat people. I'll miss our conversations. I'll miss helping him find baseball games on his echo device. Most of all, I'll miss his friendship. God bless Bob. God bless Nancy, one of the kindest people I have the pleasure to know
