Marshall's Obituary

Marshall Jordan, 81, of Dunbar, formally of Staunton/ Richmond VA, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 28, 2026.

He was born on July 28, 1944, in Staunton, VA, as the only child of Marshall Price Jordan (a Staunton Volunteer Fireman) and Lillie Horne Jordan (of Rural Retreat, VA).

He was a 1963 graduate of the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind where he later taught for 44 years. He graduated from Emory and Henry College in Emory Virginia and the University of Virginia with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics. Marshall served as the President of the Federation for the Blind of Virginia. He was a member of the Virginia Voice for the Blind and was a member of the Beeperball team.

He was a very good listener. He loved to ride bicycles and was a big NASCAR fan. His favorite football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. In Sunday School he would read the braille Bible to the students.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Denise Crawford.

Marshall is survived by his son, M. Robert Jordan of Dunbar; his significant friend, Karen Matheny of Madisonville, TN; and his cousins, Tom Matheny (Linda) of Harrisonburg, VA, Charles Wesley Matheny of Harrisonburg, VA, Charles Michael Matheny of Harrisonburg, VA, and Christina Matheny of San Francisco, CA.

According to his wishes he will be cremated and there will be no services.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
