If the members of the General Assembly were really concerned about their
constituents they would not be so eager to raise taxes. It is a pity that
not one member of the GA has demanded that they stop all legislation and
begin a review of all the Commonwealth's expenditures to identify waste.
Out of the proposed 79 billion we all know that at least 15% maybe 25% is
pure waste. This can be fraud or unnecessary spending or pandering to
supporters. There are 140 of them so the budget can be split between them.
Let them make decisions about spending that they should be making. If
reductions in Federal transfer payments are contributing to the short fall
then the Attorney General should begin action to prevent the Federal
government from creating state obligations. Our system was designed to do
just that.
Do you think the delegates and the senators run their personal fianances
like they run the people's? If so they should be voted out of office.
Where are all of these tax activists groups and why haven't they dissected
the budget, pointing out the pure waste? Could it be they have a few sacred
cows stuck in there?
Write your Assemblymen (2) and demand they stop the process and they begin
analyzing the budget for pure waste. Eight billion to 12 billion dollars is
a lot of money.
