Hey There. Neat project!

Thanks for much for putting this toolkit together.

I just started playing with it last week. I'm coming from a long
history with Max/MSP/Jitter and some openFrameworks experience, with a
some general CS knowledge sprinkled in for good measure.

Is it possible to use something like exampleMultipad with the Apple
Magic Trackpad?

It would be wonderful to be able to give demos using a standalone
device like the trackpad hooked to an external screen rather than
being bound to the laptop.

I gather from the other examples it might be a challenge, but I'm
trying to avoid dealing directly with input devices because A) my
programming skills aren't that strong and B) I don't want to duplicate
efforts if this is already in the works.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or direction.

Louis

hey louis,

I haven't tried the Magic Trackpad yet but would be surprised if it
wasn't working.

It's worth a try. It should have the same internal api as the
multitouch trackpads of the macbooks.

Let us know if you can confirm this,

/stefan

Hi Stefan. Thanks for the response.

The deal is (from what I can tell) that the Magic Trackpad works just
fine, but it's being treated as a mouse. Same with the Magic Mouse.

I'm using both with va, and all I get is "point" and "click". There
is no multitouch information coming through.

I looked around at a few resources that might be useful, but it'll
take a bit for me to understand where to look. Any pointers on how to
identify "mouse" versus "touch" information coming in through the
input devices is definitely appreciated.

Also, this thread from the c74 forum was interesting, at least with
respect to using the Trackpad and avoiding the "click":

Cheers! And thanks again.
