Hi Everyone,

I wanted to mention an ambitious new Kickstarter project helmed by a longtime member of the Smalltalk community, David Buck. If you've attended Smalltalk conferences over the years, you've probably seen presentations about some of his previous projects.

This new project is named PigeonTalk. It's an open-source Smalltalk system designed to be an educational tool for kids and young adults. David's goal with PigeonTalk "…isn't [to teach] programming. Programming is a means to an end. The goal is exploration and creativity." Unlike current educational tools like "Scratch", PigeonTalk will be extensible so others can build onto it with new frameworks and capabilities.
