IMPORTANT LIONS INFORMATION for:
Camp PHASE III
MANDATORY Team Meeting
Uniform/Gear Distribution
Contact Practice & More:
Greetings LIONS!
The 2008 Football Season is definitely upon us!
After reading over all of this information, please "Reply" with the
following information:
1) Confirming attendance at the Phase III camp
2) Confirming attendance at the Team Meeting
and
3) Letting us know if you/your son will need a ride to camp, the team
meeting and/or practices (include the area in which you live)
or
4) Letting us know if you/your son will be able to provide rides to
other players so we can help everyone make it to camp, the meeting and
practices (and let us know the area in which you live)
5) Any questions you may have!
We will try to connect all of you who need rides with all of you who
are able to provide rides ... "Let the Players Play!" and we want to
make sure everyone can get there!
After our team meeting in August, we will be preparing a roster for
the team ... which will expedite communication among all of you
directly regarding rides needed/availabe.
Make sure sports physicals have been scheduled. You must have a
current sports physical on file with us (dated within 12 months of
August 2008).
Here are some VERY important dates to mark on your calendar ... The
website will be updated with this information by this evening.
LIONS Football Camp Phase III

Trail field behind Douglass Community Center in Leesburg. This is the
location where we held PHASE II. The address of Douglass Community
Center is 407 E. Market Street, Leesburg VA.
Week #1 is Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
August 4, 5 & 7, 2008
5:00 PM - 6:30 PM
It will be facilitated by Coach K (LIONS' Head Coach) and will cover
offense/defense skills & plays.
Week #2 is Monday through Friday
August 11 - 15, 2008

It will be facilitated by Eddie Mason, a former Washington Redskins

The cost of PHASE III is included in your paid 2008 season
registration fee. Therefore, if you haven't already done so, please
make sure that you have paid your registration in full by August 1
(postmarked to LIONS Football, Post Office Box 423, Purcellville VA
20134). A $15.00 late fee applies for fees paid after that date
(unless you have made other arrangements with Le'Shon Owens, Athletic
Director).
PHASE III is also open to those young men who may not be playing for
the LIONS this year, but who are interested in this opportunity for
professional training. Please let your friends know! They can contact
the LIONS via e-mail at in...@VALions.net for information about the
cost.
Mandatory Team Meeting
A mandatory team meeting will be held August 16, 2008 from 12:00 PM -
2:00 PM. A light luncheon meal will be provided. Immediately following
the team meeting, we will conduct the weigh-in, then we will issue
uniform/gear to all players. The current plan is to hold this meeting
at the Cascades Library, 21030 Whitfield Place, Potomac Falls VA.
Bring players' sport physical forms to the meeting so we have them on
file prior to starting contact practice! If your physical is scheduled
later in August, or in September, please bring your last physical form
and note on it the date of the upcoming sports physical appointment.
It is very important that everyone attend this meeting.
Contact Practice
Contact practice will begin on August 18, 2008.
Every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Forest Grove Elementary, 46245 Forest Ridge Drive, Sterling VA.
Remember that players must have a minimum 1 week non-contact
conditioning training prior to participating in contact practice.
Therefore, it is very important (for many reasons) that all players
attend both weeks of PHASE III camp.
MODELL's Team Weeks
From August 1 - 28, 2008 you can save 10% on all of your purchases at
the Sterling Modell's. If you don't have a coupon already, they will
be available during both weeks of PHASE III camp and at contact
practice. However, even if you don't have a coupon you can still save.
Just mention "VA LIONS FOOTBALL" at the Sterling Modell's and they
will scan their store coupon for you to receive your savings.
LIONSWear
Our LIONSWear Fundraiser is now in process ... Orders can be made at
any time, and payment is due by August 22nd. This is an opportunity
for family and friends to help build team spirit and raise funds for
the LIONS. It's an important fundraiser for our organization, and is a
great way to support our guys ... it's great to look out into the
stands at a game, or look at our group during team events, and see
that LIONS logo everwhere!
The order form and item descriptions are on the website at:

You can e-mail your orders to me at
in...@valions.net -- or bring the
order form to me at any of the camp or practice nights. (At the
present time, I am also the Fundraising Coordinator.)
Please let your family and friends know how much their support means
to all of the players and their families! It is one of the ways in
which we can continue to work toward keeping the regisration fees as
reasonable as possible.
If you have any questions, or if I've left anything out ... please let
us know!!
GO LIONS!!
