Greetings, Moto Guzzi friends. I hope this email finds you well. I’m well, enjoying the autumnal weather. This week the weather really cooled off. Thursday night I finally turned on the heat in my house, and Friday I installed my larger windshield on the Convert to help shunt the wind away from my hands. I’ve been using the grip heaters on my way to work all week. Soon my snow pants will come out of the closet. Although I’m sad to see the warm weather end, I do enjoy the change of seasons.
Ron Komoroski served as the Virginia representative of the Moto Guzzi National Owners’ Club (MGNOC) for several decades. When he passed away, I happily took over scheduling the monthly Central Virginia Guzzi Lunch because I genuinely love our monthly lunches. I reluctantly took over the annual Virginia Moto Guzzi Rally and have done a very half-hearted job of it. I did NOT take over as the Virginia MGNOC representative, in part because I’m already very busy most of the time, and also because I’m fairly often out of the country.
Welp, here’s the big news: I’m going to spend the spring semester teaching in Romania. I’ll be gone from January to June. Happily, one of our Central Virginia Guzzi Lunch regulars has volunteered to take over scheduling the lunches while I’m gone. I look forward to reading his monthly emails about your get-togethers.
We really could use a new Virginia MGNOC representative. Frank Wedge, the founder and fearless leader of the Moto Guzzi National Owners Club (
www.mgnoc.com), says that a state rep is required to do very little other than answer occasional emails from Guzzi riders who want to know what’s going on in the state. Of course, whoever assumes the title could do more if he or she wants to. I’d like to see that person take over the annual Virginia Moto Guzzi Rally. If any of you are interested in considering this, please feel free to contact me to discuss it. My email is
mjon...@yahoo.com, and my occasional phone number is
434-333-8333. It’s better to text than to call – I rarely answer phone calls.
Some people have mentioned that they liked when the rally was in June rather than September. Frankly, I liked that better, too, but I’m often gone in June. If you’d like to move the rally back to June and you’re willing to take responsibility for scheduling it, please feel free to contact me about that, too. I wouldn’t mind at all, and if I’m not in Romania, I’ll be happy to come to the rally.
Wishing all of you a great weekend,
Mike
