Guzzisti,
It's been a rough month, sorry report is so late. My thanks to Mike
Jones for stepping up & doing the lunch. Mike's note to me makes a
pretty good report:
"It was a good day for riding today, considering that it's the middle of
December. Six people came to the lunch at Napoli's in Rustburg, riding
four Guzzis and one Ford Festive L-Plus. Lannis and Alec Selz "rode" the
Festiva, Bob Corfield rode a California 1400 Touring, Al Chappell rode a
V7iii, Doug Komoroski rode a California Stone, and Mike Jones rode an
1100 Sport. Noting that Bob's California has a larger engine than the
Festiva, we are counting the Festy as an honorary motorcycle.
Everyone was very happy with the food at Napoli's, and the restaurant
was clean, had a nice atmosphere, and we were almost the only ones
there. All agreed that we should return here sometime. The conversation
was wide-ranging, but one topic that took up some time was whether this
year's VA Guzzi Rally should continue that "bring-your-own-everything"
approach and whether it should be moved from October to September to
gain a little warmer weather. No firm decisions were made, but they'll
have to be made soon.
-----------
Please note that Lannis' son spells his name "Alec" not "Alex." Lannis
says that it's a British spelling. He and Lannis came together in the
Festiva because Alec's Norge has a non-functional rear brake. Everyone
was very happy with the food at Napoli's and several people commented
that we should come back there in the future. Al's calzone was humongous
and he took half of it home. My eggplant parmesan sub was good but not
threatening to topple Sanzone's off the throne: Sanzone is still #1. If
you want to spice up the report further, you can mention that after 8
years and two months the battery in my Sport has given up the ghost, so
I was riding with jumper cables in my backpack. I had to get a jump from
the Festiva in order to ride home!"
FURTHER INFO:
Hi again, Bob and Ron. Nate and I talked it over and decided to give the
last weekend in September a try. I just wrote to Willville Will and
asked if we could get a group discount. Once I hear from him, I'll send
the add to Frank for the MGNOC newsletter.
Thanks for your help,
Mike
MORE INFO:
Good news, my friends: Will says we can have a special rate of $10 per
person per night. The regular rate is $15/person/night.
Here's what I'm sending to Frank:
