Hello, Moto Guzzi friends. The 43rd ANNUAL VIRGINIA MOTO GUZZI CAMPOUT is one month away (September 26, 27, and 28), and I’m writing to update you on lodging. We’re meeting at the Willville Motorcycle Campground (
http://www.willvillebikecamp.com/), and everything there is honkey-dory, as they say. However, the status of the Blue Ridge Motel up the road is up in the air. A long-time rally attender alerted me to this (thanks, Pat!): the motel has been sold and will be closing down. I just got off the phone with the manager and he doesn’t know when they will close, but it may be before the end of September. He said I should call back in a week or two, so I’ll do that and relay the information to you.
Here are alternatives that Pat, who lives in the area, came up with:
• Ridge Rider Cabins,
https://ridgeridercabins.com/. $100/night, but riders can share the expense.
• Meadows of Dan Campground has 3 “Cozy Cabins,”
https://meadowsofdancampground.com. $100 to $120/night, multiple occupancy. They also have campsites for RVs if that’s your preference.
• Kanawha Valley Resort in Dugspur, VA, is $125/night.
• Pondview Guesthouse, $100/night double occupancy,
http://www.pondviewguesthouse.com. Sleeps up to five people; pricing explained here:
http://www.pondviewguesthouse.com/p/booking-rates.html.
Most of us camp at Willville Bike Camp, and there are NO PROBLEMS there: Will is expecting us. However, if you were planning to stay at the Blue Ridge Motel, as a few people do each year, you may need to find another motel or cabin this year.
Personally, I’m looking forward to sleeping in a tent. I haven’t tented it since the VA Guzzi Campout two years ago. 😊
