to VA Guzzi
Va Guzzisti,
The last time we met at the Drug Store Grill (Feb, 2022) I mentioned a
falling off in the service from previous visits. The trend is
continuing. They had two tables pulled together to make the table for 8
I'd requested, but one of the tables was larger than the other , buy
about 6-7". That meant there was a mismatch on both sides. If we'd have
had 8 folks show for the lunch two would have had to deal with the odd
set-up.
Alice & I drove the Nissan PUP as I was not having a "good day"
& just didn't feel ready to ride the bike yet. There were 3 Guzzis
lined up against the curb, oldest to newest: David Phillips 1980 SP,
Allyn Chappell 2017 V7III, & Bruce Jensen brand new V85TT, all
decked out with the aluminum hard bags & tail trunk. A real
knock-out!
The service was slow, we got to know Bruce a little while we waited. He
is buying a house in Bedford, & selling a house up North, shuttling
back & fourth working a job he can do mostly from home via
computer. He has several Indian bikes, with the V85 being his first
Guzzi. I hope he can become a regular at our Guzzi activities.
When the food finally came, mine had obviously been sitting waiting for the waitress to bring it
out as The fries were barely warm and the coleslaw had soaked the
sourdough bread on my sandwich. It tasted good, just a little sloppy to
eat.
So, there were 5 of us at lunch , 3 riding bikes on a beautiful day.
Good company, even though the experience at the Grill was disappointing.
I hope to see y'all next month,
Ron
