to VA Guzzi
Guzzisti,
For me, last week was less-than-wonderful dealing with some sort of
flu-ish "bug" Come Saturday morning I was still not hitting on all 8, so
I took the Nissan Pup down to Crew. I pulled in a little after 12,
& saw no bikes. I'd had emails from Allyn Chappell & Joey
Klingman saying they were under the weather & wouldn't be attending.
I Had that bad feeling I'd be eating alone at a table reserved for 8.
But then two bikes rolled in, Stuart Osteroff on his V850TT and Joe
Sokohl on a BMW R1200S. The guys were getting out of their gear when a
familiar Ford Feativa pulled in. I was surprised to see Lannis Selz as
he is recovering from 5 bypass open heart surgery. He got out &
announced "I just got permission to drive, but it will be spring before I
can get on a bike again" I heard the rumble of another Guzzi, Mike
Jones parked his Convert next to the Festiva. A minute later I &
turned to see David Phillips coming across the lot with a new face he
introduced as his eldest Son Colin.
We didn't hang around outside! Inside our table was waiting, the
waitress was on the ball taking drink orders, & we got into catching
up on happenings in our lives. Colin is a rider, he has two bikes, I
wasn't quick enough to write down what they are. I hope his situation
allows him to attend more meets in the future. We got our food orders
in, they were just a little slow coming out, but worth the wait judging
from the comments around the table. Joe Sokohl had a special request....
anchovies!! added to his calzone. I haven't heard anyone order them in
decades, but Bravo has them (not on the menu). Joe said the calzone was
great & that Bravo would be on his list for a good meal when he was
out that way.
So, 7 of us, 3 bikes outside, 2 of them Guzzis, an awesome turn-out for such a frigid day.
Hopefully Ma Nature will bless us w/a little warmer day next month, we'll see. A happy (& tasty) Thanksgiving to all y'all.
Stay warm,
Ron
