Greetings, Moto Guzzi friends. Today was a beautiful day for motorcycles: warm but not hot, with partial cloud cover but no rain. Seven Guzzis gathered at Mom Rosa’s, plus a few other bikes. I washed and rode my ’96 1100 Sport, and when I arrived, several bikes were already lined up in the parking lot. Al Chappell was there on his V7iii Stone, Bob Corfield on his V11 LeMans, Rick Scott from North Carolina joined us on a V7-850 Special (a good looking bike), and Joey Klingman on his 1200 BMW. Soon Larry Echols pulled in on his V100 Mandello S, and then Dave Phillips arrived on his KTM 390 Adventure, Lannis and Fey Selz on their Stelvio NTX, and Alec Selz and his daughter Emma on their bright red Norge. Last to arrive was Nate Jones on his trusty Kawasaki Ninja – that bike has been coming to these lunches longer than any of the Guzzis that were present today. It was such a nice day that we lingered in the parking lot quite a while before going in to eat.

Going in to eat turned out to be a good idea, though, for the food was definitely worth it. Moma Rosa doesn’t cook eggplant for some reason, so I had a veggie calzone. It was quite good, though not as good as eggplant parmigiana. Everyone else said that their food was great, though. My calzone was large but no huge like we see at some restaurants. That’s OK, because I’m a small guy and, the Sport not having any sort of luggage, I didn’t want to take leftovers home with me. The restaurant is nice and clean, and the waitress was friendly and efficient. Moma Rosa’s definitely gets good marks.

Today is Emma’s birthday. She had requested to go on a motorcycle ride for her birthday, and her dad obliged by taking her on a 55-mile ride (each way) to the Guzzi lunch. It’s only the second time she’s ever ridden. She seemed to be enjoying it. When we sang Happy Birthday to her, she asked why we were being so nice. I guess she was expecting us to be more of the “black leather and chains” sort of bikers. :-D

After lunch we spent more time looking at each other’s bikes and talking. Then we enjoyed the beautiful weather riding back home. It sure was a great day for riding!

Hope to see you next month,

Mike

Sorry I couldn't stay around to kick the tires some more.  Nice turnout, varied group of Guzzi's, and great day for a ride!
