I've figured out how to do a few things.

JOINING THE GROUP:

On the main group page (http://groups.google.com/group/VA-Guzzi) select
the "Join This Group" link in the yellow title bar (about middle of the
screen at top). This will prompt you to put in your google login &
password (or to create one if you don't have one) and then it will
prompt you for a nickname for the group and how you want the posts to
be delivered. Only part of your email address will show up on the
online posts and you have to be a member of the group to get the whole
email.

SIGNING IN: There's a "Members: Sign In" box in the upper left corner.

START TOPIC: Select "Start Topic" on main group page.
REPLY: Select "Reply".

VIEWING OPTIONS:

I selected the "Viewing titles only" option on the main group page
(http://groups.google.com/group/VA-Guzzi) . You'll get just the titles
of the topics with announcments of any new messages. If you then click
on a title, another page will option with all posts in that topic.

HELP:

Google group help is at http://groups.google.com/support . Type
something in the search box and you should find an answer (hopefully to
the right question!).

POSTING IMAGES:

Option 1) Post them on an external site and include the URL in the
post.
Option 2) Send the image as an attachment to this group's email address
which is VA-G...@googlegroups.com . More instructions for doing this

CHANGING DELIVERY METHOD:

If at the group's main page, select "My Groups" in top right corner of
screen (next to your email). Then select "Manage my subscriptions".
Then select the appropriate option from the "Subscription type"
selection box next to the VA Guzzi group.
