libv8_libplatform.a: error adding symbols: Malformed archive

The arvhine for libv8_libplatform.a does not link citing the libv8_libplatform.a is malformed.  How can I get v8 to build this correctly.  I am building on ubuntu.

If you built v8 using the binutils we include with v8, then the .a files generated are "thin" archives.

Maybe the toolchain you use doesn't support them? In that case, you can set the gyp file linux_use_bundled_binutils to 0 to force v8 to use your system's toolchain
