Hi,

It is time again. If you have any questions regarding the release, please ping this thread.

This time, we're using a new, simplified branching process.

A feature freeze is no longer required.

V8 continues rolling into Chromium until the branch is cut.

TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY 2026-06-29/30 we create the 15.1 branch for V8 cherry-picks AFTER Chromium has branched M151.

When in doubt, ask machenbach@.

As before, if you happen to work on an important fix, please make sure that the fix is on 15.1 too! See information on merging & patching for the details.

If everything works well, we’ll no longer send this pre-branch email in the future.

Hi,

We’ve officially branched for Chrome version 151.

V8 branch: refs/branch-heads/15.1

V8 Version: 15.1.206

If your CL is not included in 15.1.206 (log: https://chromium.googlesource.com/v8/v8/+log/refs/branch-heads/15.1) you might consider merging it into the branch refs/branch-heads/15.1. In that case please set the Merge-Request field to: 151 on the bug the CL is fixing. See https://v8.dev/docs/merge-patch for more information on merging.
