Hi Thierry,
Could it be a setup or driver problem ? Are you able to capture video with any other apps ?

Hi,

I have compiled v4l4j on my raspberry (wheezy soft float because I need the oracle JVM) and it seems to work but the frames are really dirty, some looks like if it were a puzzle.
What can I do ?

Thanks

Hi Thierry,
Yes, that's what I mean. I ve had mixed success with webcams on RPi. I believe the flaky USB subsystem is partly to blame, and possibly the inability to plug in too many unpowered USB devices at the same time. RPi forums are packed with threads reporting issues with various USB devices. I am not saying it doesnt work, just that you may need to find and use the right setup (externally powered USB hub) with the right device. I managed to get a Logitech Quickcam Orbit/Sphere and Quickcam 4000 working on my RPi without any issues at all.

Hi Gilles,

It looks like you're right : when I use VLC  the images are bad too :'(

Do you mean it's only due to this webcam driver and others might run well ?
