Hi Gilles.

I've been using v4l4j for some time and it works perfect.
I have a iSlim 1300 V2 and it use to work fine under linux but suddenly it stop working. It works fine over windows 7 but not anymore on my ubuntu 11.10.
I know it is not a problem with v4l4j cause cheese does not capture any image from the webcam too so I think it is a problem related with the driver, maybe an kernel update mess the image capture with this webcam.

When I started the capture using v4l4j I can see the blue light in the camera that is indicating that is working but no image is captured, same thing with cheese.
Is there any way I can see what is happening? I ask to you cause you may lead me to the way I'm looking for to solve this problem.

Thanks and greetings!

Hi Daniel,
It does sound like it is a driver problem, and i m afraid i wont be of
much help. Did the problem happen after un update / upgrade ? Your
camera uses the UVC driver in Linux. Maybe give guvcview a try, just
to make sure it is not a userspace issue. If guvcview works, it is
definitely a driver problem. if not, let me know, and I can look into
it. Also, I remember one of the webcams i tested v4l4j with required
to be plugged in at boot time in order to work (in 10.10 though).
I cant think of anything else...

 Hi

I tried guvcview and it does not work, the image is always black. In windows 7 it works perfect but not on ubuntu. It use to work but suddenly it stop working, I suppose with a kernel update or something. Genius iSlim 1300 V2 is a uvc webcam and it's supported on ubuntu or it use to be, i found a lot of people having the same issue as me but no one has solved it yet. If you could help me at least to know where the problem is I would appreciate it, if not dont worry, i know now it is not a v4l4j problem.

Thanks and greetings!

Hi, nope i did't find any solution because it is a problem related to a driver on ubuntu (a known bug and not resolved yet). I don't have this camera with me now because i gave it as a gift to a friend and bought another one that works perfect.

Greetings

Hi Daniel,

I'm having the same issue. Did you find any solutions?

Thank you,
Ale
