In order for us to get a count of who will be attending our June 16th
monthly meeting and ride please post a reply to this thread. At this
point we will be meeting at the Farmer's Market restuarant at 9:00 (if
someone has a better suggestion for a meeting place please let it be
know). We'll have a short meeting mainly about upcoming rides and then
get on the road.

I'm definately in. Check out the 2007 schedule page I posted a link
there which has some info about the Unwharrie NF including off road
trails. This ride was suggested by Gerard (great idea).

I have not been there in a few years, but would be happy to plan the
route. I just want to let evryone know that those off road trails are
perrty tough. I drove one in a stock jeep wrangler a few years back
and my hands are still cramp. Had to have my buddy get out and road
guide me more than a few times never took it out of frst gear 4x4 low.
They do have some dirt and gravel roads that are not bad. I might make
a test drive and survey the area while you boys deal with the tail of
the dragon at the gap. I spent a week on top of King Mnt which is part
of the forest running a radio relay station during SF phase 3 testing.
It was nice.

I need to know where the farmers market is. I know where the Suzuki
dealership is on Lake wheeler rd. Is it near by, not to familiar with
the Raleigh area. I just drive to Wake Med and back to Erwin in
Harrnet Co.

I work everyother weekend, but checking the calener I am off that
weekend so I'll ride.

My wife and I use a chatter box comm system when we ride. They work
great and are a great saftey tool. We let each other know about road
conditions, when its safe to pass, or jut to comment on the smell we
just rode through. Do any of you have comm gear?

Ok ride safe.

I'm going to have to miss this one, we'll be coming home from vacation on Saturday.

I don't have any comms equipment, thought about it, but haven't done it. I'm sure it comes in handy.

I've used Chatter Box equipment in the past. I think our group at that
time had the cheapest radios they offered and our signals were hit or
miss and we "missed" more than we hit. LOL.... How does the saying
go? You get what you pay for. I do remember that when the equipment
did work it was very nice to be able to communicate with each other,
especially the road captain with the tail gunner.

Mark - I know you guys will be coming back from the OBX that Sat. I
would suggest that we move the meeting/ride to Sunday but I'm sure you
will be a little tired and want to unwind a bit before heading back to
work on that Monday. I know I would. But if I'm wrong just say the
word and we'll move it, no worries either way.

Gerard - Renee and I were out riding down by your way yesterday
afternoon. We live off hwy 42 near I40 (Garner - really Clayton
area). We rode for about 3 hours and we had a blast. I took some new
roads (gosh I can't even remember the names of them all) and they were
nice, quite, smooth and few offered a little twist here and there.
That's great about you heading up the ride for us in June. I've never
been to Unwharrie (heard good things about it) and am not familiar
with the dirt roads/trail system. If you feel that they'd be a bit to
rough for the group then we'll just stick to the pavement. I was
checking out the website and they had a map of the trail system (of
course that doesn't really tell you anything) and it looked like there
was one "dirt road" that we might could take, but again I've never
been there so my opinion doesn't count. I'd be happy just riding up
there and checking the area out. If my memory serves me correctly the
Farmers Market is just before Barne
tt's Suzuki on the left off Lake Wheeler road. You can't miss it as
there are signs that clearly indicate the "Farmer's Market". I've
never been to the Farmer's Market restuarant but I'm sure you will
have no trouble finding it, heck I might ride out there soon just to
get an idea of the layout, hours, etc. I would say lets meet at
Barnett's but we'd have to get their permission and I'm not sure how
many bikes we will have going. We might just have 3 or 4 or we might
have 20? Plus, if the resturant is open early, I will get there
before the meeting/ride time and grab a bit to eat. Whatever the
count I'm sure it'll be a fun ride and thanks in advance for planning
the route.
