Lets come up with some good ride destinations for our monthly group
rides. Please suggest some good places and roads that you have
travelled that we as a group can do in a one day ride. We need to
firm up our 2007 schedule so people can make plans. We also need to
find a good central meeting place. I would recommend somewhere close
to I440, maybe a restuarant that opens early.

Ideas? Please share them.

Thanks,

Rodney

Isn't there a resturant at the Farmers Market off the beltline? That
Might be a good place. Not too far from Barnetts either. As far as
routes to ride, what are the criteria? Example, The outer Banks seems
like a nice destination to me. But it might be too far for one day. So
I was wondering if we had a time span or mileage limit we could focus
in on more specific areas. Maybe something like a 6-8 hour window or
250 miles. Just came up with that for discussion sake, but you know
what I mean.

The farmers market resturant sounds like a great idea or we could meet
at Barnettes Suzuki, both are right there close to the beltline. In
just (my) opinion a good day ride would be somewhere between 250 to
350 miles give or take a few miles here and there. Factor in lunch
stop and a couple of short breaks. The last ride we took (topsail)
was a good ride for me. I took us the long way down there and we took
a shorter route back. The outer banks sounds like a great ride but
would probably be best if it was an overnight trip. It would take us
about 4 or 5 hours to get there (right?) then to ride the main road up/
down the islands would be another 2 hours or so. Visiting OBX I would
like to check out some of the sites (not many but a few) :) But
again, I've only been to Nags Head once in our car and didn't pay
attention to mileage or time. Awesome destination idea for sure. Lets
keep the ideas and suggestions flowing.

How about the Uahuri (spelling) national forest out by Troy. Dont know
any place to eat there but we could meetin Fuquay and have something
to eat before the ride and pack a picnic lunch for when we get there.
Nice hilly country and curvy roads. they even have some off road
trails for yo adverturus chaps. Probably about 2 - 3 hrs from Fuquay.
If the next ride is the weekend of the 19th thats good because I am
off that weekend.

I have heard of Uwharrie Nation Forest (good things about that area).
I say lets do
it. Almost all of us are going to the V-Strom gathering in May so lets
set this ride up for our June 16th group ride.
Gerard if you can make the June 16th date and don't mind picking a
route and leading the group. You can Pilot this trip.
That sounds like a good days ride plus I have never been there. I'm
not sure if this email gets posted on our groups website if not I'll
stick it on there. A meeting place... Some folks may not be familiar
with Fuqua so why don't we plan on meeting at the Farmers Market
restuarant say at 9:30 a.m. We can take Lake Wheeler road back over
to
401. For now lets go ahead and establish that as our normal meeting
place for our monthly meetings and group rides. Its easy to get to
just off I40 and is somewhat centrally located. As far a lunch, I'm
sure we can find somewhere up that way to grab lunch or a snack. I
vote for us just having a nice ride up there and just see what we run
into. I'm sure we can find somewhere to eat even if its a supped up
BP
station. LOL...

Thanks for this suggestion, sounds GREAT. If anybody opposes speak
now
or forever hold your piece cause I'm gonna post it.

By the way do any of you guys watch that new TV show called "The Real
Wedding Crashers"? I watched that for the first time last night and
about busted a kidney from laughing so hard... .... hahahhaha...

Ride Safe!
