Hey guys, Karen and I went up to WV to visit her folks over the
weekend. I took my Strom up on the trailer so we could get a few rides
in. The weather was perfect and the roads were curvey. One was a
little to curvey. We road down Rt 60 to Gauley Bridge I was taking the
curves kind of easy and we were 2 up. Then I went into a curve a
little hot maybe 30-35 mph there was a truck behind us. I started
leaning into the curve more than I have ever leaned before. We were
about half way through when we realized it got even sharper. I was at
200% concentration and leaned harder and harder never hit the brake
never let up on the throttle. My knee was about 6 inches off the
pavement when my peg scraped and shot my foot of the peg. We thought
we were going down!!! But it all came out ok. I owe it all to George
my MSF instructor I did not follow his instructions going in to hot
but what he taught me got us through it. Click on the link below for
some pics.

Hope to see everyone on the 14th.

Gerry

Wow.. good to hear you pulled through the curve and didn't go down.
Those times can be a little hair raising to say the least. Good
pictures of your ride, looks like you guys had a great time!

So far I'm still good for the 14th ride, lets keep our fingers crossed
we don't get any bad weather.

I was in WV that weekend as well. Met my folks up there to ride 4
wheelers in Montcalm, WV at Hilltop Escape. Took the Vstrom on a few
of the trails, and it done surprisingly well. I got some very strange
looks from the locals. Also rode a few of the Hatfield/McCoy ATV
trails as well. Took the Strom up Hwy 71 on Saturday and in some of
the curves the tires were on the white line and my head was still over
the yellows. Those are some narrow roads. :-) I will try to post
some pics sometime.

Good to hear that you kept your cool in the curve. I like dragging
parts off of mine as much as I can. The Strom handles much better
than one would think. I have dragged the passenger footpegs on quite
a few occasions with my brother on the back. I will try to catch up
w/ you guys at the next ride hopefully. Take care.
