The Corner Of E. 111th Street & Lexington Avenue To "YOUNG LORDS WAY"
Dear All,
It is with a deep sense of humility and honor that we
make this announcement. It has been a long journey to get to this point. I
would like to begin by expressing our deep appreciation to Debbie
Quinones from the East Harlem Community Board, ex-Young Lord Vicente
"Panama" Alba, and to the Honorable Speaker of the
NYC Council Melissa Mark-Viverito, whom with community
support made this happen.
On the 45th Anniversary of the founding of The Young
Lords in NYC, a new street sign will be unveiled, "Young Lords Way", occurring
Saturday, July 26, 2014 on the corner of
111th Street and Lexington Ave at 1:00
p.m.
After the unveiling ceremony we will gather at Amor Cubano,
located on 111 Street and 3rd Ave., to tell stories at the bar section of
the restaurant (this is a cash bar event).
Please circulate this announcement widely.
Looking forward to seeing you on July 26th.
